Ed's Food Pantry

Supporting a community group that delivers food each month to families whose lives have been upended by ICE detention or deportation

About Ed's Food Pantry

Ed's Food Pantry began as a front-yard food bank last fall — a direct, hands-on response to the hunger facing families in our community. That chapter has closed, but the need has only grown.

Today, Mandy's Project supports a community group — not a registered organization, just neighbors who saw families going hungry after a loved one was detained or deported, and decided to do something about it. Every month, they deliver food directly to more than 125 families across the Valley.

Because they are not a nonprofit, every meal they deliver is funded entirely by donations and out of their own pockets. As word spreads and more families find them, the need keeps growing. Mandy's Project is always collecting food and funds to help them keep up.

Many of the families they serve cannot access traditional food banks, which often require a photo ID or proof of address — documents that may be unavailable or unsafe to present. This community group reaches families that the formal system cannot.

That's just who they were

A food delivery detour

While delivering food and baby supplies to a family in Maricopa, Sam and Ed spotted two dogs loose on the street. They got them safely into the car and spent the next stretch of their day driving around and knocking on doors trying to find the owners — no tags, no easy answers.

They eventually tracked down the family, who had no idea their dogs had gotten out. A food pantry run, a baby delivery, and a dog rescue — all in one afternoon. That was Ed and Sam.
